Doctors care about your overall well-being, and we believe that proactive steps towards maintaining good sexual health are essential. That's why we are reaching out to remind you about the importance of getting a routine chlamydia check. This is otherwise known as an STI check or an STD check. Other sexually transmitted infections can be tested for at this appointment as well. E.g. HIV, Hep B, syphilis, gonorrhoea if appropriate.
Why is it important?
Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) worldwide, and it often shows no symptoms. This means that you or your partner could be infected without even knowing it. If left untreated, chlamydia can lead to serious health complications, including pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and an increased risk of contracting other STIs.
With the cervical screening moving out to 5 years now, the annual chlamydia check doctors did is not getting done and so infertility issues will rise. We recommend an annual check at least and a check after any new partner if protection (which we recommend with any new partner prior to testing) was not worn.
By undergoing a chlamydia check, you take a crucial step towards ensuring your well-being and the well-being of your sexual partners. Early detection and prompt treatment are vital for preventing long-term complications and protecting your reproductive health.
Here's how easy it is:
We understand that discussing sexual health can sometimes feel uncomfortable, but please remember that doctors are here to support you every step of the way. Our mission is to ensure your health and well-being without judgment or stigma.
Don't put your sexual health on hold any longer. Take control of your well-being by scheduling your chlamydia check today.
Together, let's protect your future.
Warm regards,
Dr Tia Singh
