Doctors Bulk Billing Exclusions

Bulk billing or reduced fee appointments are not available on Weekends or Before 8 am after 4pm on weekdays.
Note: Some doctors have no bulkbilling. Please check their individual websites
Overseas and interstate visitors are billed at AMA rates of $156 - $180 per visit as they are all new patients and require extra time.

The discretionary concessional bulk billing rate is for Brisbane residents only. Travellers/ temporary residents/Brisbane visitors /overseas students will be privately billed.

If you do not have a current Medicare card and all relevant concession card/s in your possession or on your records at the time of consultation you will be charged full fees. You will then need to claim your rebate back from Medicare or your health fund.

Drs do not bill health funds direct.
Workers compensation, travel vaccinations, medicals, home visits, excisions, molescans, pap smears and other general procedures/services are not bulk billed.

Referrals and scripts are booked ONLINE by telehealth appts now or via the Hotdoc script/referral request $26.*

Telehealth Appts Are Private Billed At $92-$96. Any reduced fees or bulkbilling is at Drs discretion

Due to the increasing demand on doctors’ time to fill in various forms for insurance, work, school, Uni, gym, blood bank, passport, health funds Immunisation information you need to book a telehealth appt for all these requests or a non medicare rebateable fee will apply depending on time taken.

Appointment Length & Fees

Doctor's typical appointment lengths. A Standard Consultation (10-minute appointment for a single simple problem only) and a Long Consultation (20-minute appointment for two short issues or symptoms with an obvious diagnosis, or 1 complex issue eg any symptoms that need a diagnosis eg headache, back pains, abdo pains, chest pains, women’s health appt, counselling or mental health plan). Longer appts can be booked on ringing the surgery for assistance.

Please specify the length of appointment you require at the time of booking to ensure that you have adequate time booked to address your concerns. If you are unsure how much time you require for your appointment, one of our friendly receptionists will be happy to assist you. Time = quality. Not booking enough time can put a Drs under pressure and affect the quality outcomes of an appointment. If you book more than you need, only time used will be billed and equally billing increases if more time taken than booked.

Private Patient Fees

Standard Consultation $92 - $96 (Medicare Rebate $41.20) – Long Consultation $158 - $165 (Medicare Rebate $79.70) (though fees higher before 8am but same gap is paid). Any reduced fees at Drs discretion. A cancellation fee may apply if you do not notify us of a cancellation (50% of the appointment cost)

Doctors take minimizing patient waiting times very seriously and can only give the booked amount of time to each patient (unless urgent and whatever time is needed is taken). If doctors run over time by 2 mins per appt they would be running 1 hr late by the end of the day! Doctors know no one wants that so doctors need patients help to run on time.

Doctor's average wait time is 6 mins though emergencies do cause delays some days. This is unavoidable. The Hotdoc app does have a waiting time notification if you use that.

Doctors prefer a 20 min appointment for new patients .If you do not specify a length of appointment at time of booking it will be assumed to be a 10 minute appointment, and unless urgent, you may be asked to return again if there is not enough time to properly manage your health complaint in one appointment. If you arrive after your appointment time is over you may have to rebook so as not delay every appointment after you for the rest of the day which is unfair to doctors' other patients who are busy working people on tight time schedules.
